Dark Lips neutralisation

Dark Lip neutralisation is a specialised treatment for those with cool or dark-toned lips in which we neutralise the darkness in lips. This may appear as darker pigmentation around the outside of lips or top lip, where clients desire their lip tone to be more evened out, lighter or pinker. While these areas sometimes appear as brown, when applying colour theory these areas are treated as blue/purple tones, thus we use opposite colors – warm reds/orange as a base to even out lip tone. It is for this reason, that some clients require more than 2 appointments to achieve their desired result depending on the case.

What happens at your appointment?

At your first sitting we will discuss your desired colour and shape. Once we both agree on the colour and shape, Alesia will then take your before photos. Alesia will then clean your lip area and begin the drawing process. The drawing process can take up to 30 minutes. Once you are 100% happy with the shape, we will then mix up the colour/s chosen and begin the tattooing process. The tattooing process can take up to 2.5 hours. Alesia will then run you through the aftercare instructions and take your after photos. This session is a total of 3 hours. Once your tattoo has completely healed 4 weeks later, you will come in for your second session. Lip tattooing is a 2 step process. This session is where we see how well the pigment has held and we can slightly adjust colour and shape if needed.

  • Refrain from soaking your lips in water for a week and from applying makeup to them. Make sure to brush your teeth with your mouth wide-open trying to avoid touching the paste and water. Eat carefully also trying to not touch or smudge your lips, it might affect healed results. Alcohol, hot and colourful drinks are only allowed to be consumed through the straw.

  • Refrain from using saunas and swimming pools, sweating excessively and sunbathing as your lips may lose the colour or get hyperpigmented from sun exposure, especially if you naturally have more of dark melanin in your skin.
